19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks his first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

Victory also means he has achieved 21 victories at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused some to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early chances in a close third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
